We have recently framed a customer’s artwork in a frame that was finished to match their home interior.
Our customer came to us with their artwork and a knob from a drawer. They asked if we could frame the artwork in a frame to match the knob. Unfortunately there was nothing from any supplier that matched the distressed bronze/gold look of the metal and so we had to create something.
The artwork was a canvas and our customer wanted this stretched and framed in a tray frame (also often referred to as an “L” frame or “float frame”).
We used a plain obeche wood frame and then after many attempts on offcuts, found a concoction of stains and gilt creams that worked. The frame was then waxed to give a very nice finish that matched with the drawer knob and looks fantastic.
