We have just framed this collection of 36 cigarette cards from 1938.
They were to be found in packets of Godfrey Phillips Cigarettes and were for the series “Beauties of Today” featuring young Hollywood actresses of the day in swimsuits.
These would have been very racy at the time. Some such as Carole Lombard and Dorothy Lamour went on to be great stars of the day.
The frame is simple and straightforward, but we needed an accurately cut multi-aperture mounts and then each image needed to be float mounted with their individual aperture, which took a considerable amount of patience and time.
The final result was well worth the extra time and effort!
