These wonderful printing plates were used to create embroidered silks. The images were etched into the plates and the plates were then coated in graphite. Then the plates were pressed against the silk and the embroider would go to work. In this instance they formed a series of three. The plates were still covered in graphite when we received them and we were careful not to remove too much before framing, so that the images were clear. There were even a few extra marks, defining extra items of grass etc, which were applied by pencil and would have helped each piece created with these plates retain a uniqueness.

We framed these plates for Paul Niu who owns and runs Nuico Coffee House Gallery on Chatsworth Parade in Petts Wood (folllow this link for more information Nuico) where they have regular art/photography exhibitions including Oriental Silks which they import from China.
