When deciding how to frame something, you should not be limited to just a single frame (in the case of artwork that does not need to be behind glass, such as an oil on canvas), or a mount around the image, then a frame with glass.
You can stack frames to create a much wider frame around the artwork, or use a “slip”. A slip is a simple, usually quite thin, piece of moulding that can fit just inside the frame, or indeed around the inside of a mount.
In this example, a black frame was chosen by our customer, with a simple gold slip inside the frame. This slip is very popular and you may spot it in other examples throughout the website such as this christening dress where it is used around the inside of the mount.
In both cases it works very well with the framed pieces and the choice of frames.
