Usually we would frame pictures using mount card with a white bevel, but occasionally artwork looks better with a black bevel, such as with the picture shown.
At Inspirations Framing, we generally use “white core” mount card, which will have a pure white bevel which will not discolour over time, unlike “cream core” mount card used by other framers which is the cheapest, but as it is acidic, it will turn brown over time, which is why we never use it. Check out your pictures at home (or the next time you are in a pub/restaurant/hotel etc). The mount card we use is classified as “conservation” grade by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
